It has been our distinct pleasure to feature the work of ceramic artists Cedric Brown and Christy Brown. We met up at our adjacent booths during a Craftsman Weekend Exhibit many years ago. Proving that it is always people that make the difference we have been friends ever since and these fine artists graciously agreed to place many pieces of pottery at Aarnun Gallery. Each pot we’ve sold has been a bittersweet moment as it is easy to want to keep them all. Still, many have found new homes in the collections of our discerning and enthusiastic clients.
We have a few of Cedric’s pieces and miss him as his time on earth ended in 2012. And now we are focusing on Christy’s Raku ware which is quite different from their work made together, and is subtly imbued with her creative style and the atmosphere of her studio life. The kilns are still in use, but there are many leaf-filled pit firings taking place at their ranch in the Sierra Nevada foothills near Springville.
